How Covid-19 affects public transport

Kolumbus has put in place several measures in order to hamper the spread of the Covid-19 virus. We also follow the advice given by the health authorities.

Here are the main changes that affects public transport:

  • To protect the drivers' health, we have closed the front door. You have to buy your ticket in advance, as it will  not be able to pay by cash on board.
  • Do not use public transport unless you have to. If you have to, and cannot keep a one metre distance to fellow passengers, the municipalities at North Jæren require you wear a face mask. This means that in Stavanger, Sandnes, Sola and Randaberg municipality, wearing a face mask is mandatory from 31 December.
  • Reduced seats  on the express ferries. Please buy your tickets at if you are travelling to Ryfylke, Lysefjorden or Utsira. Our ticket app, Kolumbus billett, is only valid on buses, trains, city bikes and the ferries to Vassøy/Byøyene/Hommersåk.
