Zones
Local zones, zone maps, GPS and price structures.
Rogaland is divided in five zones, and the ticket price is calculated from the number of zones you travel through.
- How many zones do I need?
- Do I still need to pay for the same amount of zones, or is my ticket affected when the number of zones are reduced from 1st January 2016?
- How do you calculate the ticket fares in Ryfylke and Byøyene/Hommersåk?
How many zones do I need?
Count the zone you travel from, the zones you travel through and the zone where you disembark. This will tell you the number of zones you need for your Period Pass or Student Pass. I.e.: When travelling from Stavanger to Sandnes, your journey starts in Stavanger, you travel through Sola/Forus and disembark in Sandnes. For this journey, you need a ticket valid in three zones.
Do I still need to pay for the same amount of zones, or is my ticket affected when the number of zones are reduced from 1st January 2016?
Journeys which previously has stretched across several zones, are now done within fewer zones as a result of the zones becoming fewer and bigger.
Some examples:
Stavanger-Sandnes: Previously your needed a ticket for three zones, now you need a ticket for one zone.
Bryne-Stavanger: Previously you needed a ticket for four zones, now you need a ticket for two zones.
Ålgård-Stavanger: Previously you needed a ticket for four zones, now you need a ticket for one zone.
Egersund-Forus: Previously this journey stretched across seven zones with bus and nine zones with train. Nå trenger du billett for tre soner.
How do you calculate the ticket fares in Ryfylke and Byøyene/Hommersåk?
In Ryfylke, the fares for express ferries are calculated based on the distance between the ports you travel to and from.
The fares on the express ferries to and from Stavanger and Byøyene are calculated in the same way as on buses when the journey starts and ends in the same zone.
