Buying tickets online

User tips, getting started and reasons for delays.

Which tickets can I buy online?

Why should I buy my tickets online?

If you buy your tickets online and keep your tickets on a Kolumbus card, you avoid the extra fee which is added in the zone Nord-Jæren when paying your tickets on board. You also contribute to a smoother and quicker boarding which makes it easier for the drivers to stick to the timetable. The amount of cash on board is reduced, which reduces the chances of robbery.

I already have a Kolumbus card and want to buy tickets online. What do I do?

You can buy your tickets online via MyPage. If you are already registered as a MyPage user, you can log in and choose Buy ticket. If you have not yet registered as a MyPage user, you can register here. After you have registered a user, choose Buy ticket.

How do I top up my Kolumbus card with travel money?

Log in to MyPage, choose Buy ticket and see status for your Kolumbus card. Under the card information, you are first given the option to buy a ticket. Under the dotted line, you can top up with travel money. Click on the amounts field set to 0,00, and type the amount you wish to top up. Follow the purchasing process.

How do I choose zones for my ticket in the webshop?

The 24-hours ticket and the 7-, 30- and 365-days tickets are zone based, so you need to choose which zones your ticket should be valid in. First choose the tab “Select your travel distance” after you have chosen “Buy Ticket”. In the to and from fields, write the name of the zones in which the ticket should be valid. Rogaland is divided into five zones, so most people will travel within only one zone. The five zones you can choose are Nord-Jæren, Jæren, Dalane, Ryfylke and Haugalandet.  Choose the type of ticket you want to buy in the field ”Select ticket”. Finally, choose your passenger category. Review your order to make sure you have made all the right choices, and place your ticket in the shopping cart. To finish your purchase, choose view your shopping cart and place your order.

The price on my ticket is incorrect/too expensive. Why?

We have done our very best to remove old zones and bus stops from the web shop. If the price on your ticket is wrong, it is possible that you accidentally may have found an old bus stop or zone which we have not managed to remove. If this happens, all you need to do is type in the name of one of the new zones and the correct price will occur.
Rogaland is divided into five zones (Nord-Jæren, Jæren, Haugalandet, Dalane og Ryfylke). To buy a ticket you need to type in the name of the zone(s) you travel within in both the to and from fields. In additon to the five main zones, there are zones for the counties of Hordaland and Vest-Agder, which you can choose if you travel with us across the county boarder.

If you are buying a 30-days ticket for the local zone in Haugesund, there is a separate option for this. The ticket for the local zone cannot be placed with the other tickets, as it cannot be combined with other zones, and if it was placed as an option along with the other tickets, you would be presented an incorrect price for your ticket.

I am not able to place the ticket in the shopping cart. What do I do?

Most probably you have chosen unvalid zones for your ticket. We have tried to remove all of the old zones and bus stops from the web shop, but unfortunately it is possible that some have remained.

How can I register a predefined travel distance online?

Choose “Get Autotravel” in the top menu and choose which Kolumbus Card you want to register the predefined travel distance on.

Under the tab “Predefined travel distance” you choose your zones in the option “Select ticket”. Define if you are a student, child, senior, adult or conscript in the option “Category”.

Review your order and place your ticket in the cart.

It is free to register a predefined travel distance, but in order for the distance to be registered on the Kolumbus Card, you need to “fake a purchase” for 0 NOK.

Choose “View cart” in the right side menu, accept the terms and conditions and choose “Add”.

I am not able to register a predefined travel distance

If there is already registered a travel distance on your Kolumbus Card, it is not possible to register a new distance on the same card. You can change the specific travel distance at our customer service centres or by approaching the driver.

What is a predefined travel distance?

To have a predefined travel distances is to have the zone(s) you normally travel in, along with your correct passenger category, registered on your Kolumbus Card. In that way, when paying your single ticket with Travel Money, the price of the ticket is always calculated by the zone(s) registered and the type of passenger you are (adult/student/senior/child/conscript).

This is a good option for those who do not travel too often and want to avoid the extra fee which is added when paying by cash on board the bus at Nord-Jæren. Registering a predefined travel distance allows you to pay as you go, and you choose how much Travel Money you want to top up on your card.

In order to buy a single ticket using your predefined travel distance, you only need to register the travel distance once and have enough Travel Money on your Kolumbus Card.

If you have another ticket, i.e. a 30-days ticket, on your Kolumbus Card, along with your Travel Money, it is your other ticket but your Travel Money which is used as payment when you validate your card on board. You can therefore have both tickets and Travel Money on your card simultaneously without worrying about your ticket being payed with both.

I do not have a Kolumbus Card, but I want to buy tickets online. What do I do?

You must have a Kolumbus Card to buy tickets online. If you do not have a Kolumbus Card, you can purchase one online, on board or from a customer centre.

Why do I need to log in?

All purchased tickets are stored on your Kolumbus Card. By creating a user you avoid having to enter your Kolumbus Card number every time you buy a ticket. It also allows you to add multiple cards for a single user and view your purchase history.

I have more than one card registered, and I want to distinguish them from each other, how do I do this?

If you have more than one card and you want to change their descriptions after they have been added in the web shop, you can do this easily by clicking on the link 'Edit' on the page containing the descriptions. We also recommend that you register your card at the My Profile page in MyPage.

I think I have bought a ticket, but I am not sure it went through - what do I do?

Once you have paid, you should be sent back to a page showing Your purchase has been completed. If you are not sent to this page, your purchase may not have been registered. The actual transaction may appear to have been completed, but the amount may only be reserved in your bank account rather than charged. The money will be released in a couple of days in line with your bank's routines.

Should you have any doubts about whether a purchase has been registered, please return to the menu item Previous purchases in the web shop. If the order is not registered here, the purchase has not been completed and the ticket will not be transferred to your Kolumbus Card.

Why can I not use tickets as soon as I have purchased them?

The reason is that buses and ferries must call at a terminal in order to download data, as the buses are not connected to the internet when in route. This normally happens by the following day after your purchase.

In some cases your Kolumbus Card may also become faulty, which in turn means it is not possible to transfer a ticket to your card during validation. Should this happen, you must bring a printout/receipt to a Kolumbus customer centre to get a new card. Kolumbus cannot transfer the ticket you have tried to buy to the new card, but you can get a refund afterwards by submitting an application for a refund.

Why can I not buy a Student Pass/Period Pass?

When buying a Student Pass or a Period Pass, you have to choose a core zone and the number of zones you wish to travel in. Unfortunately it is not possible to buy tickets where a core needs to be set online. We will continue to work on resolving this issue.

Can I purchase multiple tickets online using the same Kolumbus Card?

Yes, it is fully possible to have multiple types of tickets on the same card, but no more than six at a time.
The ticket validator will always use the first valid pass. This applies to all 30-day Passes and Day and Short-term Passes.

How long can I wait before using the tickets I've bought?

Remember that you need to use your tickets or travel money within six months of buying them in the web shop. If you wait longer  than this, the purchase will be cancelled, and you will need to contact customer service to get a refund (or online here).
